Konecranes Lifttrucks AB - a winning concept for big lift trucks and reach stackers
It was back in the 1950s that the first lift truck left our production plant, which at that time was located in Silverdalen, Sweden. Since then we have constantly striven to develop the best solutions to enable our customers to get the job done as efficiently and cost-effectively as possible. Today, over half a century later, SMV is a world leader in the manufacture of fork lift trucks, container lift trucks and reach stackers with lifting capacities from 10 to 60 tonnes.
At our modern production plant in Markaryd, in south western Sweden, we combine the latest technology with efficient manufacturing methods and solid craftsmanship.

- 1947 Founding of the company
- 1959 Production of the first fork lift truck
- 1994 Appointment of new management
- 1995 Opening of a new production plant in Markaryd. A complete new truck range is introduced, fork lifts, container lifts and reach stackers.
- 1998 The world’s largest reach stacker is delivered for handling containers on river barges. Factory and office extention, annual capacity 200 units.
- 2000 New forklift truck concept, the SPECTRA-range, 10-16 tons & 18-25 tons
New range of empty container handlers, 5-8 high, 9 tons capacity, singel & double stacking.
- 2002 Factory and office extention, annual capacity 300 units.
Certified according to ISO 9001:2000.
- 2003 Certified according to ISO 14001:1996.New range of 60 tons fork lift trucks, first deliverd to UK steel mill.Patent obtained for the SPECTRA fork lifts.
- 2004 SMV become a part of KCI Konecranes of Finland (SMV Konecranes AB).New range of laden reach stackers, for container handling & for intermodal handling, the TB & CB series.
- 2006 New range of 10-16 tons fork lift trucks with higher performance.
New range of empty container handlers, 4-6 high single stacking, 8 tons capacity.
